If you know me well, then you know that I enjoy yoga almost every morning. It's the best way to start the day after my morning devotion. It doesn't take long for me to get my zen on but this little bit helps me out tremendously.
As I began healing from my illness earlier this year, yoga helped bring me back to movement. I felt a disconnect between my mind and body; yoga helped me find the tether to string them back together. It is for this reason that I enjoy daily practice and encourage you to try it as well.
Here are a few of my favorite things that help my yoga practice flow:
I don't like flowy shirts when I'm doing yoga. Maybe it's the dancer in me or maybe it's the fact that I just don't like extra fluff. Regardless, this bralette is perfect for my daily practice. It's form-fitting and allows me to move freely, which is exactly what I want in a yoga top!
Colorfulkoala High Waisted Shorts
The same thing goes for the bottom layer. I want my yoga pants (or shorts) to be form-fitting so I can move freely. These are great yoga shorts; I wouldn't run in them but they are perfect for moving in the morning. The best part about them is the price. I don't feel like I'm breaking the bank when I purchase a pair or two.
I have a confession. I Still using the same yoga mat I used in college. It's amazing how durable this thing is and I’m impressed that it has lasted me this long. For this reason, I don't have a direct link for the specific Gaiam mat that I use. Here's the best that I can find.
The Down Dog App is by far my favorite yoga app! It is great for dialing in your practice whether you want to work on your flexibility or practice restorative movement. I love that you can modify your practice to be what you need. Whether it's adjusting the time to be 20 minutes or 1 hour, this app has what you need to make it happen. If you are new to practicing yoga or unable to go to a gym for an in-person class, I highly suggest that you try this out.
If you are looking for a more personal yoga experience but aren’t quite ready for an in person class, you should try Bridget Hall’s yoga classes at Light Your Fire Yoga. She is an amazing instructor and her classes are perfect to stimulate recovery, improve posture and support your daily life.
